Man vaults vehicle off 30-foot cliff in western North Dakota, survives
N.D. — A 60-year-old man whose vehicle vaulted off a 30-foot cliff near Watford City on Wednesday, April 14, at about 5:45 p.m. has lived to tell the tale.
Richard Hall, of Grand Junction, Colo., was traveling north on U.S. Highway 85 about 15 miles south of the western North Dakota city when his vehicle ran off the roadway, traveled about 100 yards in a ditch and then flew off the cliff, said the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
After his 2016 Ford pickup landed, it rolled and came to rest on its top.
Hall sustained serious, but not life-threatening injuries, said the patrol. He was taken by ambulance to the McKenzie County Medical Center.
He was wearing his seat belt. The patrol is still investigating the crash.
