University Avenue reopened after gas leak response

Minot, N.D. – University Avenue has reopened to traffic following a response to a reported natural gas odor, according to the Minot Fire Department.

Fire crews were dispatched Tuesday morning to the area of University Avenue NW and 10th Street NW after reports of a gas smell. With assistance from Montana-Dakota Utilities, responders located the source of the natural gas leak.

As a precaution, nearby residents were asked to temporarily evacuate while crews worked to address the situation.

Montana-Dakota Utilities carried out repairs to the leak, and traffic impacts remained in place until the area was deemed safe.

The Minot Fire Department thanked the public for its patience and cooperation during the incident and said updates were provided as conditions changed.
