Active COVID-19 cases drop in North Dakota as state sits at doorstep of 1,500 deaths
BISMARCK, N.D. — Following are the North Dakota Department of Health COVID-19 case rates, deaths, hospitalizations and vaccinations as of Friday, May 7. Because all data is preliminary, some numbers and totals may change from one day to the next.
Statewide case rates
- NEW CASES: 122
- TOTAL ACTIVE CASES: 979
- TOTAL CASES: 108,341
- TOTAL RECOVERED: 105,863
- DAILY TEST POSITIVITY RATE: 3.7%
North Dakota’s active case count decreased by 33 on Friday. Cass County, which includes Fargo, reported 11 new cases, and Burleigh County, which includes Bismarck, reported 22 new positives. The two-week rolling average positivity rate is 4.3%.
Hospitalizations, deaths
- ACTIVE HOSPITALIZATIONS: 40
- DEATHS, NEWLY REPORTED: Zero
- TOTAL DEATHS: 1,499
The health department reported no new COVID-19 deaths on Friday.
Vaccinations
- FIRST DOSE ADMINISTERED: 281,627 (47.1% of population)
- COMPLETED SERIES (2 doses): 253,156 (42.3% of population)
North Dakota has administered a total of 558,000 vaccine shots. The demand for vaccines has plateaued in the last month, and the Department of Health has scheduled an “Ask a Doctor” town hall with medical experts for 2:30 p.m. Friday, May 7, to discuss the importance of getting vaccinated.
